The EU and its members have provided Ukraine with more than €187,3 billion of support (financial, economic, humanitarian & military) since Feb 2022. The EU's members have purchased more than €216 billion in Russian fossil fuels (oil & products, gas & LNG) since Feb 2022 - CREA.

@vtchakarova No, it isn’t. Did you even bother to read it? It doesn’t include military aid, nor doe it include EU support.

The US has just sent its sharpest message to Europe since the end of the Cold War amid the new Cold War with the DragonBear. Reuters reports that Pentagon officials told European diplomats this week that Europe must assume the majority of NATO’s conventional defense capabilities

Russia spends ~40% of its entire GDP on military spending. And it still cannot complete its military objectives in Ukraine. Yet, suddenly Putin is now making threats to all of Europe. A continent with a collective GDP of $19.9 bn (10x + of Russia's), a population of 500

My two cents: Putin will push for the U.S. to sign on Ukraine‘s behalf to avoid any direct negotiation with Zelensky and any formal legal document between Russia and Ukraine. He eyes armistice, not a peace treaty, just enough to ratify Russian territorial gains through ceasefire.

Putin says it’s impossible from a legal standpoint to sign any agreement with Ukraine because it doesn’t have a legitimate government. There we go again.

Good analysis of the thinking in Moscow. Putin is in no rush (unlike, for some reason, Trump) and feels he can wait for Ukraine to either be delivered to him by Washington or to collapse on its own. Time will tell whether this is as delusional as his belief in a swift Ukrainian

Some brief thoughts on the recent Witkoff–Ushakov–Dmitriev leaks and the broader state of the peace talks. 1. Moscow faces a serious structural problem: whom should it actually talk to on the American side? - Steve Witkoff is convenient and receptive to Russian ideas, but

The latest "peace plan" has many problems, but this is a big one: There is ZERO credible enforcement if Russia violates it. Security guarantees? The US under Trump is not a credible security guarantor. Reimposing sanctions later? It would be weaker than what we have today.
