In NH, Haley pointed at the federal government, invoking the “outside interference” defense that segregationists perfected in the 20th century to defy federal law. /3

After the 2015 Emmanuel Massacre, she upheld the Confederate Flag as a symbol of honor, saying “the flag stands for traditions that are noble. Traditions of history, of heritage, and of ancestry.” /2
