My first preprint with the lab is out 🎉! We benchmarked the ability of our own basecalling models to detect RNA modifications using @nanopore direct RNA sequencing. Grab a coffee and check out the thread below 🧵! https://t.co/V8PJfHAtEP 1/10

In recent years, nanopore direct RNA sequencing (DRS) has established itself as a valuable tool for studying the epitranscriptome, due to its ability to detect multiple modifications within the same...

It's not only that this "we're going to sequence our way into figuring out biology" stuff is harmful to science it's that any "we're going to figure out biology using this one approach" is harmful. Massively multidisciplinary research is the only way to figure out biology

Very sadly, not all PIs care about this or subscribe to this philosophy. Glad to have worked with one who does @RaviMLab
The point of grad school or a postdoc is not to learn a bunch of techniques or get some high impact factor papers (though that WILL help you get to the next stage). The point is learn how to think like a scientist: how to plan/design experiments, how to write, how to analyse data

💡This is the first study to link m6A modification to neuronal activity! It provides a foundation to understand how altered levels of m6A methylation can contribute to synaptic function. @Naveenkcg @NawalpuriBharti @R_Sarayu @Vishwajaj

Looking for methods to measure #m6A? Happy to introduce Phospho-tag m6A assay, a highly efficient and accurate method for quantifying #m6A specifically from #mRNA...and all in one pot! Worry no more about your rRNA contamination! Congratulations @AashiqHMirza and collaborators!

Happy to share our latest work showing how m6A and YTHDF proteins contribute to the localization of select transcripts in neurons. Congratulations to our very talented postdoc Mathieu Flamand!

Happy to share a recent review article that I and @deepak_iisc wrote together. Here we discuss the issue of spatial heterogeneity of protein expression in neurons and how ribosomes are modulated in a compartmentalized fashion to generate this variation. https://t.co/a7Jis2dA1Z
