If you look at the song credits you see a lot of recurring names. So at this point in time Hikki is like the face and they have a band. It was the opposite though earlier in their career when they didn’t want to work with folks and the evolution is interesting.

And with saying that Hikki in a sense is kinda like Sade (one of their inspirations growing up) but they release music more regularly unless they go on break or hiatus. Like Sade, Hikki’s very involved in the music from composing, producing, SONGWRITING, etc. but….

To avoid going on a rant one last thing I want to highlight is how we know Hikki is very private (like I’m shook still they attended FKA twigs bday one year) so that means who Hikki works with regularly is small and close knit.

I’m also so happy we got Hikki’s performance of Mine or Yours from THE FIRST TAKE since their performance of First Love from the FIRST TAKE is already on streaming.

For this EP in particular Hikki reached out to Yaeji a Korean American queer DJ and I loved that on her remix you can hear her singing along to Mine or Yours in 日本語.

Also I like with the remixes how Hikki has reached out to queer and trans people in the community to work on this EP and the Electricity Remixes EP.

And one thing about Hikki is that the instrumental is a whole other song itself. Moreover listening to J-Pop as a little girl the standard for a Japanese single was usually an a-side (main single), b-side, instrumental and/or karaoke version, etc. so this was a treat.

One of the major highlights with this EP and even going back to the Gold ～また逢う日まで～ EP is that we have since 2023 FINALLY been getting the instrumentals to Hikki’s singles again which is great because we missed them.

I felt some of Hikki’s remixes have been hit or miss to be honest so I’ve been pretty quiet but I will say as an EP this whole body of work is really good and there are many positives to this EP I want to highlight.
