For me, trading is not even about money. It’s about self-actualization and freedom. Money is just a way to gauge my progress on this path.

Be less in your head and more with your plan. Most of the time, it's your thinking that gets you into trouble.

"Trading is a psychological game. Most people think they are playing against the market, but the market doesn't care. You’re really playing against yourself.". ~ Martin Schwartz.

To fall in love with the process. This is one of the hardest things to teach yourself. Especially when real money is on the line. Yet it is key.

When your system identifies a trade, put the trade on, even if you are anxious and unsure. If it makes it easier, do it with a smaller position size. You miss 100% of the trades you don’t take. But if you keep taking your chances, success will eventually come to you.

New traders often feel a rush of excitement when the market moves in their favor and crushed when it doesn’t. But at some point, those emotional highs and lows need to be brought into check. Otherwise, their trading journey won’t last very long.

Losses are part of trading. There's no way around that. But a trading plan coupled with discipline allows you to lose in a controlled way.

The only thing stopping you from letting a winner run is the story you create in your head about why you shouldn't. If your plan says to let it ride, then trust it and let it ride!.

When you trade based on technical analysis, you're often engaging in a kind of informal Bayesian reasoning. You're adjusting your expectations based on new price data. True Bayesian inference requires that you remain open and flexible, weighing new information fairly without.

You can be a wildly profitable trader, but if you don't allow yourself to unplug from time to time, you're going to have a hard time being a happy trader. Self-care should be a central part of your game plan.

I've worked with hundreds of traders. 99% of the time, their trading strategy or system has a statistical advantage. But the thing that holds them back is their thinking, perspective, and overall mindset.

You can make good, consistent profits as a trader simply by mechanically following a set of rules. I see traders do that all the time in my coaching program. Just putting that out there. No need to engage much of your intellect. Actually, the more you try to think or make.
