Keeping you abreast with all the sorrows and the sorrows at Birmingham City

There’s a bizarre collective delusion surrounding Bellingham. It’s become in vogue to have an agenda against him, and it’s not based on his quality of football at all. English culture hates anyone who’s vaguely self-confident, and people make it their mission to drag him down

There are other areas of the pitch we need to look at too of course, goes without saying. But my overriding feeling from today’s game is that our sub options are so different in style (and quality) from the main starters that it’ll limit how high we can go #BCFC

To finish in the top 6, we’ll need to find Roberts and Ducksch rotation options in Jan. They’re both vital to the way we play - our attack doesn’t function when they’re not on the pitch. Koumas and Dykes just can’t replicate their attributes, the drop off is too big #BCFC

The only solace when losing to Boro is that @RealBobMortimer will be happy

Even with this defeat, we’ve shown more than enough this week to suggest we’ll be in that playoff chasing pack. Still think there’s plenty more to come from us too. If we keep playing like we did today away from home, with a bit more cohesion up front, we’ll be dangerous #BCFC

I thought we chucked everything we had at them, but lacked the cohesion we’ve had in recent weeks. Don’t think we had our best stuff in the locker today. Losing Paik was a huge blow, and Boro battled brilliantly. Not what we wanted, but not a result I’ll lose any sleep over #BCFC

Chris Davies deserves praise. It was a struggle until the Hull game, but he’s definitely found the formula since then. It was a learning process for him too, and he seems to have come through it. He has emphatically turned this around, which is such a hard thing to do #BCFC

Too many great performances to mention in detail. Roberts is perfect technically, Iwata tireless, Doyle the calmest man in the stadium, Klarer and Neumann impassable, JS sharper than ever, Ducksch has X-Ray vision, Paik immaculate, Dimmy opportunistic, Keshi silky. Amazing #BCFC

There’s no other way of putting it, that was a top 2 level performance. There’ll be plenty of ups and downs but I think we’ve shown tremendous growth since the Preston game. We can absolutely compete towards the top end of this league #BCFC

One of my fave first halves in a long time. The difference Neumann, Doyle, Ducksch and Roberts have made to this team is night/day. They’ve raised the bar of the other players too. Iwata looks like he’s been playing RB forever and JS’s decision making is so much better #BCFC

I know we lost afterwards in Bristol, but I think we turned a corner in the Preston game. Performances have felt more secure since IMO. Today is exactly what we needed and a sign that we are on the right track. We really, really needed this result as a fanbase #BCFC

I actually found it quite refreshing seeing Blues happy to play ugly tonight. I think CD’s philosophy of wanting to control games is great, but we’ve floundered previously when other teams take control. Tonight, we seemed a lot more comfy with not having the ball #BCFC

Neumann needs a tweet of his own tonight. His aggression and positioning turned the defence from being our weakness to being our strength in the space of one game. He really was that transformational IMO. That CB pairing has to be the default moving forward #BCFC

Absolutely chalk and cheese defensively. Neumann and Klarer is our best pairing by a mile. Obviously wasn’t pretty with the ball, but our character and battling was second to none. Let’s hope that’s the turning point and the beginning of a newfound confidence #BCFC

The recruitment team signed some good players (and some bad), but even the good ones aren't particularly suitable for the style CD wants. Having said that, if CD doesn't adapt, he will end up falling on his sword, but he's been shafted by the recruiters IMO #BCFC

Robinson definitely let himself, and everyone else, down with his sheer idiocy. But even when we had 11 men, our defensive organisation was very poor when pressed. First half had some promising signs on the ball, but off the ball I'm concerned. It isn't getting any better #BCFC

What the bloody hell has happened to us defensively? The general play with the ball seemed promising for most of that half, but off the ball we are an absolute mess when teams enter our defensive third. Nowhere near enough organisation #BCFC

Special mention to Koumas too, I thought that was his most promising cameo so far. Decent little chaos option to bring off the bench #BCFC

Much better in the second half. When we are bold enough to zip it forward between the lines, we will hurt most teams in this league. Beadle did absolutely fine, Robinson and Klarer looked a composed unit, Iwata battled well, and I would start Kyogo at every opportunity #BCFC
