You really have adults out there holding grudges for people who advocate and speak the truth. Its so alarming, but as the book let them says “many adults have children trapped inside their adult bodies, throwing tantrums.” It’s crazy!.

I’m curious, if a man enters a space with men that are not bodyguards, and no sight of any woman including their exclusive partner, uno no see nttn wrong with that? This society is very selective, uno confuse me, I rather be a Chris Brown than any Jamaican artist, Jah!.

The fact is the Deaf community has suffered when it comes to Access, access that is given to every other person in society. Pay attention and provide real access not this thing me see a gwaan where just checking a box is more important than the actual access.

Let’s do better, just because someone knows the alphabet and a few signs DOES NOT mean they are capable of interpreting. A standard has been created in Jamaica let’s not diminish it with quantity but keep the quality that JAMAICA has shown the world over the last 2 decades.

Imagine this context, I know a little Spanish and the Minister of Foreign Affairs has a high level event. She then says “come an interpret” I show up and 3/4 of what is said is never interpreted. Do you know how much information is missed and the misconceptions it could lead to?.

Interpreting in a social setting is totally different from a political, economical/fiscal, legal setting. Let’s get it right it’s not just saying “oh you can sign, can interpret for me for this event?” You know who suffers? The Deaf community, it’s a language and it’s a service.

Interpreting is intricate especially simultaneous interpreting. As a JSL interpreter, I see many interpreters on the horizon. Quantity is on the rise, however the aim is not just quantity it’s also quality. The reality is a lot of the upcoming interpreters need training.

Standing in solidarity with every nurse, every female and every child who has experienced any form of abuse. Time for us to go back to a society where women and children were not harmed.
