Hope they settle in well and I’m sure they’ll receive a wonderful welcome from people of Tipperary! (Let’s hope the keyboard warriors/racists here don’t venture too far from their computers) ...
@TippFM
From 1841 to 1861, Tipperary lost almost half our population due to the Famine, through death & emigration. Over 100,000 Tipp folk sought asylum elsewhere. I'm happy to welcome these Syrians. They'll change our population by 0.14%, we'll cope. I hope they find peace here.
@TippFM
Great to see racists & "Irexit" campaigners out in force here.
Don't worry about people in need, it's not like we traipsed the world ourselves looking for help, being treated like scum everywhere. How short your memory is.
Nobody *wants* to be a refugee. Where's our compassion?
@TippFM
Delighted to see us honouring our obligations to fellow human beings. All that is required: compassion, empathy, care, love. If you can’t manage that, then at least do not direct your hate and anger at people fleeing war and trauma.
@TippFM
Brilliant news. Tipp has been hit hard with emigration, it’s great to get some families into the area. We’re a nation of emigrants, hopefully these new families will be met with a warm welcome. ❤️
