| If you need a teacher to let you know what’s going on with your kid, you might want to take hard look at your parenting skills, writes Drew Edwards.
@TheSpec
Hypothetically, if a student is self harming because he/she is confused and confesses this to a teacher, it's OK not to tell the parents? Where is the line drawn?
@TheSpec
If a child was organizing his own religious group with political ideas would the teachers tell?
If the child was organizing a criminal gang, would the teachers tell?
If the child thought they were a giant bug and ate other bugs, would the teacher tell? Rule needs to be the same.
@TheSpec
Maybe so, but it's still disturbing, perverted and disgusting to secretly help a CHILD transition behind the parents' back. What do you think will happen when the parents find out, it won't be good.
@TheSpec
Teachers are not counsellors. If a student speaks to a teacher about a personal issue, it is that teacher's responsibility to send that student to see the school guidance counsellor or social worker. They will then work with the student and their parents.
@TheSpec
Parents just want teachers to teach their kids Math, Science etc. perhaps they should take a long look at their teaching skills and not over step their boundaries.
@TheSpec
That is exactly right. That is why schools should get back to doing what they were and are designed for. Reading writing and arithmetic. Learning only. Nothing else.

"As the proud father of a trans kid,"
Your opinion is irrelevant. Because if you are wrong about trans you destroyed your child over a lie.
Forgive me for refusing parenting advice from someone that has failed.
