Professor of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Medicine, and beloved Emeritus Professor at UCSF Diabetes Center, Gerold Grodsky, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones, in San Francisco. He was 95 years old.

Back in my day, I use to continue cell culture through the holiday because it takes ~2 months to make islets from frozen stem cells. Now-a-days, these kids simply thaw frozen islets to do experiments as soon as they return. #WhenIWasYourAgeIWalkedUpHillBothWays
