@RonFilipkowski I thought that college students paid tuition for their classes. The classes arenโ€™t free. College is also about discovery and learning about the larger world that youโ€™re about to embark upon. Itโ€™s where you go to think critically and gain knowledge.

Desantis today says if students want to study โ€œniche majorsโ€ they can go to schools like Berkeley, but FL colleges are now going to solely focus on โ€œthe basics.โ€

@TheDiplomat13 @RonFilipkowski Public universities are heavily subsidized by the state so there is a compelling interest for the state to shape their curricula. The question is how best to do that and not whether to do that. IMHO, it should be left to legislative subcommittees working with the universities.

@urso_bruto @RonFilipkowski Students pay thousands per credit hour to take courses that not only educate and prepare them for their chosen careers, but also to expand their knowledge and capacity for critical thinking. He doesnโ€™t care about student loans, he cares about silencing the minorities.

@TheDiplomat13 @RonFilipkowski College students are also mostly adults. Adults who supposedly are old enough to make life decisions, except in FL.

@j080476 @RonFilipkowski This part. First, he has limited what kids will be exposed to in K-12 and now heโ€™s trying to extend that to the college years? My heart breaks for todayโ€™s kids.

@TheDiplomat13 @RonFilipkowski College is a joke. I have 5 degrees that are getting used. Employers don't even care that you're college educated unless you're going into a career like the medical field...attorney...etc.
