To me, the reason this is the case is the differences between the Hoth and Crait battles
It’s established in the movie why the empire has to land slow moving walkers to attack the base. The 1st order does the same thing b/c reasons...?

No it won't. I watched ESB in the theater when I was 15 and my serious complaints were, "I HAVE TO WAIT 3 YEARS TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT". But after TLJ, I know I'm not going to watch ROS in the theater, if at all.
