Officially the bum is out of uniform the second time …. Could there be a stronger proof about Pakistani Banana Republic being in a rudderless spiral under #AsimLaw ?

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 21/ This is why I’m pinning this thread. Not for outrage, but for re-imagining what a professional, constitutional Pakistani armed force could be – and what must change to avoid a tragedy written into law.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 20/ Germany chose “never again” and slowly built structures to make that real. Pakistan still has time to choose “never again” for its own people. But time is not infinite, and constitutions can become iron curtains.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 19/ A system built on fear and impunity always ends the same way: – It eats its own – It destroys talent – It bankrupts the economy – And it leaves the country weaker, not stronger, against real external threats.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 18/ If you are in uniform, in the courts, in politics, media or civil society: this is not about humiliation. It is about avoiding a point of no return – where state violence becomes formally legal, permanent and uncontrollable.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 17/ This thread will unpack, in parts: 1. How Germany rebuilt its armed forces after 1945 2. What Innere Führung really is 3. How the Wehrbeauftragter works 4. What Pakistan’s recent amendments are doing to our state 5. What a Pakistani “citizen-in-uniform” model could look like.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 16/ I say this as someone who wore the uniform and then saw another model up close. The problem is not the sepoy or the young captain. The problem is a system that rewards blind obedience upwards and brutality downwards.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 15/ In Pakistan, real patriots in and out of uniform should be asking: Do we want a republic where the law protects the citizen from the gun, or a fortress where the gun writes the law and the citizen is the enemy?

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 14/ This is not “anti-army”. In Germany, Innere Führung and the Wehrbeauftragter strengthened the army: more professional, more respected, less feared by its own people. A force trusted to carry a gun because it is under law, not above it.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 13/ We also need a Pakistani Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces – independent, constitutional, directly accessible to every soldier and family, empowered to investigate abuse and report openly to the people’s representatives.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 12/ Pakistan desperately needs its own version of Innere Führung: – Soldier as citizen in uniform – Explicit duty to defend the Constitution, not a personality – Clear training on unlawful orders, human rights, and the real history of coups and proxy wars.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 11/ The human cost is already visible: – Enforced disappearances – Secret trials – Crushed political rights – A generation growing up between fear of the state and hopelessness about justice If this isn’t checked, it will end in a monumental human tragedy.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 10/ This is the opposite of Innere Führung. Where Germany said “never again a Führer”, we are busy manufacturing a local version of it – wrapped in legal language, national security slogans and TV talk shows.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 9/ Recent amendments like the 26th and 27th haven’t healed our civil–military imbalance. They have deepened it: capturing parts of the judiciary, centralising command into one office, and shielding the top brass from meaningful accountability.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 8/ Now look at Pakistan. Instead of moving towards citizen-soldiers under parliament, we are moving towards permanent guardians above the people – using constitutional amendments to cement power, immunity and control over courts.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 7/ The Wehrbeauftragter can inspect units without notice, demand documents, and reports publicly to parliament. The message is clear: The barracks are not a lawless zone. The soldier is a citizen. Parliament has eyes inside the uniform.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 6/ Germany even created a Wehrbeauftragter – a Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces. Any soldier can write directly to this office, bypassing the chain of command, to report abuse, illegality or extremist behavior.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 5/ The German system learned the hardest lesson: An “apolitical” army that just “follows orders” can become the engine of genocide. So they flipped the model: No more Führerprinzip. No more blind obedience. Permanent civilian control and parliamentary oversight.

@GermanyinPAK @OfficialDGISPR 4/ This is called Innere Führung – “inner leadership”. It’s not a slogan. It is doctrine, syllabus, daily practice: ethics, history, law, political education built into command, promotions and evaluation.
