Shockingly this is actually true. And the reason? One official concern reportedly was that admitting Jewish children “might give rise to an anti-Semitic problem.” Ireland has always had a racism problem.
In 1945, Ireland initiated ‘Operation Shamrock’ to bring 500 war-stricken European children to Ireland. The Irish government insisted on one stipulation - none of the children could be Jewish.
