How can we model sound waves? Ss experimented with a variety of instruments looking at ways to change volume and pitch. I had some students bring in their own instruments to share with us today, so it was very musical in our room! @SEPUP_UCB @LabAids

Why does Earth’s tilt cause different places on Earth to receive different amounts of energy from the Sun? Using a solar cell, ss explore how the angle of the sunlight striking it affects the amount of solar energy the solar cell absorbs. @SmithKnights @SEPUP_UCB @LabAids

Students got to investigate how to find speed. I love this activity as it sets expectations and solidifies group dynamics. I’m going to up the ante a little bit once they get a feel for this topic! Stay tuned for either a huge success or an epic fail! @LabAids @SEPUP_UCB

What causes an object to change direction? Ss investigated direction of motion by making observations of a marble’s motion around a circular track. They predicted/observed what happens to the marble’s path when parts of the track are removed. @SmithKnights @SEPUP_UCB @LabAids

How does the mass of a car affect its kinetic energy? Ss worked to create their own experiment to test the relationship between mass and kinetic energy. @SmithKnights @LabAids @SEPUP_UCB

I would love to tell you about the times vaccines prevented me from getting sick, but every time it happens, I don’t notice. I just keep feeling well. Neither do you. Public health, when it’s working, is invisible.

Giving Ss a place to show what they know when you start a new topic is powerful. It becomes more powerful when they update their understanding later and explain how what they did informed their understanding. This strategy is embedded throughout Issues and Science by @SEPUP_UCB

One of my favorite recent discoveries, and bonus it was created by a black woman, is @thestorygraph ! As a reader and a data nerd, this app is just so cool. The recommendations are great, the information captured is really interesting, and it's a great user experience overall.

If a school or state is pushing open access curriculum but not funding the resources needed to teach it and looking the other way when it comes out of teachers' pockets, they don't actually care about equity.

once again, really urging people to get a library card if you haven't already - and not just that, i'm begging you to USE your library resources. show up. though they're important, we do way more than just books. libraries are spaces that allow community building and care.
