Once the bacteria are captured and immobilized in the ACBC chip, we decode their identity using barcoded 16S rRNA FISH with high classification rates! Having rapid identification tests can go a long way towards helping in the fight against antimicrobial resistance. #AMR

We first compress the flow-channel using a control layer as with any top-down microfluidic valve. We then monitor and tune the flow-channel’s back-pressure so as to generate the right amount of lift to form a capture region that acts like a sieve for bacteria.
