Take a page from @CTULocal1 teachers spend their money subsidizing the failures of our state lawmakers. Teachers are funding schools one household budget at a time. Miss me with the “NO” and miss me with the “extra money” argument. Teachers all over the state seem to find it.

4/ Some won’t survive until mid terms or 2028. We need to #TrumpProof IL. Be the vanguard. Show Americans a model for hw our country is supposed to work. Leaders are supposed to do something abt the lack affordability. Leaders must secure public EDU as #Trump dismantles the DOE.

3/Trump just gave IL billionaires a tax break. Nothing stopping our billionaire guv and the ILGA from “finding” those revenues and funding public schools. Although, taxing the rich will require more than a press conference and finger waving. Maybe study @CAgovernor leadership?.

2/ As it stands now, the REFUSAL of state lawmakers to act now feeds the chaos. There are no hot lunches for students at the same time Trump erases SNAP benefits. There are no crossing guards. Services to SpEd kids are being removed and there’s no DOE to investigate the claims⬇️.

The joint CPS budget briefings last wk hinged on rallying alders to lobby Springfield, to the chagrin of some who wanted to hear more abt loan/MEABF/TIF. Now w/ gov flatly saying “No,” will city/union leaders pivot public messaging to other options or up the attacks on Pritzker?.

Paging @CAgovernor to IL. We need a leader who can go beyond blaming and shaming to actual strategic leadership in protection of those who are victims of Trump’s tyranny. Some won’t survive. Over 300K Black women are unemployed. The DOE isn’t even investigating claims anymore.
Pritzker asked by @tahmanbradley if it's possible CPS might get financial help from the state in the October veto session. "No," Pritzker says. "There is not extra money laying around in Springfield." Pritzker said the Trump administration's education cuts are partly to blame.

Macquline King has spent the past 10 weeks as Interim CEO/Superintendent of CPS advocating for the 300,000+ children in her care. It is very disappointing to see city leaders and the Board of Education attempting to undermine, bully and force her out. Stay strong Dr. King!
