Denji wants sex because that's the only way he thinks he can have intimacy. That doesn't mean that for reaching intimacy with someone he has to have sex. That'd be the laziest way of writing it.

If sex even happens, it most likely will be as a result of that Intimacy he longs for being fulfilled, rather than the intimacy itself.
Making Denji (And Asa) reach the intimacy they long for be sex would be the laziest and easiest way of writing it, and

out of all mangas, this manga has never ringed a bell on me of resolving stuff in the easy way rather than complicating it more.

A lot of ppl donât realize that Denji comes to the conclusion that sex is intimacy because well.. Every other form of it he experienced was tainted during his first time. He thinks sex is all there is left

Itâs actually crazy that thereâre ppl who think that sex will happen, let alone soon.
Especially when Fujimotoâs writing is all about presenting a situation/character only for them to be flipped on their head.
Heâs telling us that stuff on the surface is far from the truth.

Tbh I think that denji has trauma associated with basically every other form of intimacy. Heâs had parents, siblings, and friends, but heâs been hurt by everyone. Heâs never had normal consensual sex with someone he care about though.

plus even if they have sex it isnt a magic bandage to both denji and asaâs intimacy issues. they will still struggle and will need to learn to open up to each other in ways that arent physical
