Running to be the next Governor of Virginia. Congresswoman for VA-07. Former CIA officer. Former federal agent. Mom. (My U.S. House account is
@RepSpanberger
)
I'm officially running to become the next Governor of Virginia.
I'm a former CIA case officer, former federal agent, current Member of Congress, and mom to three great kids.
I know that when we rise above the chaos and division, we can focus on what matters most to Virginians.
Nine years ago today, Dylann Roof murdered nine people at Charleston's Emanuel AME Church.
They should be alive today — but because of a loophole, Roof was able to purchase a firearm.
We must close the "Charleston Loophole" to make sure prohibited buyers can't buy a gun.
Eid Mubarak to our Muslim friends and neighbors in Virginia and around the world! I’m wishing you and your loved ones peace, prosperity, and many blessings this Eid al-Adha.
Happy Father’s Day to all of Virginia’s
dads, grandfathers, and father figures.
I’m grateful to have such great dads in my life — and I hope you have the chance to spend today with your loved ones!
Happy Saturday morning, Virginia! ☀️
Today is the LAST day of early in-person voting in our primaries.

The Virginia General Assembly acted responsibly to ban bump stocks in the Commonwealth.
But today's SCOTUS decision — overturning the Trump Administration's ban on bump stocks — reminds us that we MUST pass legislation at the federal level to ban bump stocks and save lives.
This ruling puts more American lives in danger. It makes our communities less safe.
Here in Virginia, bump stocks are banned thanks to our Democrats. But that needs to be the case across the entire United States.
🚨Virginia! Tomorrow (Saturday) is the FINAL day of in-person early voting in Virginia’s congressional primaries.
You can find more information about your early voting location here. 👇
Happy early voting! 🇺🇸🗳️
Yesterday, Republicans in the U.S. Senate blocked a bill to protect IVF.
No lawmaker or judge should restrict the freedom to access this life-changing tool.
As the next Governor of Virginia, I will always defend the Virginians who need IVF to start their families.
Evan belongs at home, not in a Russian prison. The Kremlin’s attacks on the free press underscore Putin’s cowardice and fear of accountability.

In the wake of the Dobbs decision, women from across the South have traveled to Virginia to receive the reproductive healthcare they need.
As Virginia’s next Governor, I will protect our patients and providers — and I will defend the freedom to make our own healthcare decisions.
Over 171,000 patients traveled for an abortion last year, new estimates show, demonstrating both the upheaval in access since the overturn of Roe v. Wade and the limits of state bans to stop the procedure.
Eight years ago today, a gunman killed 49 innocent people and wounded 53 more at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub.
The shooting was the deadliest attack on the LGBTQ+ community in U.S. history.
Today, we remember their lives — and we recommit to ending gun violence in our communities.
Today marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Loving v. Virginia, which struck down state laws banning interracial marriage.
Two Virginians from Caroline County — Mildred and Richard Loving — stood up for the freedom of all Americans to marry who they love.
Last night, I was honored to meet Philip Hirschkop, who represented Mildred and Richard Loving in Loving v. Virginia — which led to the overturning of state bans on interracial marriage.
Two years ago this June, the Dobbs decision led extreme politicians to immediately wage attacks on our freedoms.
As the next Governor of Virginia, I will always defend our fundamental rights — including the right to choose, the right to contraception, and the right to privacy.
