An amazing translational simulation event with @Ornge and St Mike’s ED on May 7th! > 100 participants and online observers. These types sim events allow us to stress test our processes, leading to systems-wide impacts. Great work all! @petrosoniak @UnityHealthEd @UnityHealthTO

A great article by colleagues on the importance of representation with CPR manikins to disrupt sexism and cisheteronormativity! A great addition to the literature and why we made this solution happen! Interested in how we did it? DM or email us simulationprogram@unityhealth.to

To be more inclusive, the simulation team outfitted some of their CPR manikins with breasts, as they previously only had male-representing manikins. "We have to be the change": How @Sim_UnityHealth is supporting more inclusivity in CPR training https://t.co/V9W1vC3kEI

The ultimate in knowledge translation. Case: cardiac arrest ED simulation to test & train our processes for dual sequential defibrillation. We were joined by @DrCheskes who changed practice w/ @NEJM pub Dose VF study. Amazing start to the day @UnityHealthTO w/ @Sim_UnityHealth

Using #simulation for #HALO (high acuity, low opportunity) events, like a mass casualty. “It allows staff to safely experience the chaos, stress and resource constraints they would face during a mass casualty event. It's like a dress rehearsal that allows for deep learning.”

Mass casualty events are rare, but they happen. At @UnityHealthTO we use full scale clinical #simulation in the ED to test and train for our response in the event of a Code Orange (mass casualty). Amazing partnership betw our clinical, logistical and @Sim_UnityHealth team.

We just “crash tested” using translational #simulation a more streamlined process of getting critically injured pts to the OR. Far more safe & efficient than “hoping” a new protocol will work. In a complex adaptive system, key to observe how a new system plays out in reality.
