Six weeks to recover from childbirth? Try two years. New research is overturning the widely held belief that postpartum recovery lasts just six weeks. A study published in the European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology reveals that a woman's body may

@ShiningScience "two years" - wow that's wild. six weeks always felt like such a marketing number. makes sense the body needs way longer.

@ShiningScience Probably why Obgynโs discourage Irish twins/ they always said itโs because the body needs a year to heal, not sure why this information never made it past child planning

@ShiningScience Six weeks was to hold selfish penises at bay and get women back to work asap. Years is correct. I have two children and it took me years to recover and get accustomed to my new body. Some women get off relatively unscathed, but not for the vast majority.

@ShiningScience ๐
I could have told you that without the study. It literally took me 2 years after having each of my 3 kids to begin to feel normal. Bit they were worth it ๐ฅน๐ฅฐ

@ShiningScience I meanโฆ frame it as removing a 6+ lbs tumor from your body. Of course it takes longer than a year to fully heal.

@ShiningScience I mean... duh. That's why it is recommend to wait 2 years between babies. Organs shift, bones migrate, hormones are just... all over the place. 6 weeks? Who said 6 weeks?

@ShiningScience I want to be real with y'all. I have never given birth, but I also know I would never recover. That's much of the reason I haven't done it. I think it's crazy to think that your body would ever go back to "normal" after something like that.

@ShiningScience Yet judges ordered me to appear in court for a trial and a state supreme court hearing with a 2 1/2 DAY old newborn & a 2 week old newborn. For the 2 week old the judge denied my request for a 15 min morning break so I could nurse my baby.

@ShiningScience Too often they do so with no help at all: Help from friends and families can be crucial for averting and weathering crises, and simply having confidence that help is available if needed offers peace of mind. Unfortunately, not all mothers anticipate that friends or family will be

@ShiningScience Was the research done differentiating between breastfeeding women and formula feeding women? If not, itโs not useful research. Breastfeeding recovery and hormonal balance is completely different.

@ShiningScience ignoring how we can visibly see now women in Amish or Orthodox communities popping out kid after kid and are objectively healthier than the women waiting 2 year gaps between them. your fertility window actually extends from child bearing.

@ShiningScience I told a friend who recently has a baby that she should wait 2 years before getting pregnant again.

@ShiningScience That seems about right, but 3,5 years plus and I have to say, Iโm still shaky and not mentally where I was before ๐คทโโ๏ธ

@ShiningScience Women can feel this. Iโve always asked, โIf gray matter wonโt return to normal levels for a couple years, do you ever get that part of your brain back if you get pregnant again too soon?!โ 3 year gaps were wonderful, 2 year gaps were exhausting & noticeably harder on teeth, etc.

@ShiningScience This doesnโt surprise me at all. Just another way the establishment has been trying to destroy the โfamily unitโ.

@ShiningScience Ya know, it takes a long time to recover from a fracture but the cast doesnโt usually stay on the whole time.

@ShiningScience I gave birth in the US. I know I was over informed compared to the average 19 year old. I read a lot and asked a lot of questions. However I was unaware of the horrible pains of the womb/uterus shrinking back. Plus the joint and bone pain. My doctor did tell me that it takes

@ShiningScience At least people are realizing this now. Catch up . Hopefully this changes how we treat womenโs health and what we know about the biological female anatomy

@ShiningScience It's totally okay if this is you but I'm 3 weeks postpartum and feel fine. Let's not unnecessarily scare women away from pregnancy.
