I got to help previz this and animated the 2nd half of this clip myself. While the design is pretty different, Devastator was my favorite toy as a kid, and it’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had at work. And yes, it’s true that this guy basically melted one of our computers!

This shot was originally going to be from behind the squadron of X-wings, following them in, but our previz artist and amazing animator Mate Medricky whipped up this idea all on his own one night. We all loved it and pitched it the next day and now it's a Star Wars shot forever!

So this is AI animation. And it's disturbing to see...... I doubt Ghibli would ever have given permission for their work to be used to train these kinds of tools. And I hope Hayao Miyazaki never sees these videos...
