The more than 100,000 public servants at USDA who carry on this work are some of the most dedicated and talented professionals around. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve done together, and forever grateful for my time at the People’s Department.

.@USDA has delivered on our commitment to make lasting change that works, promoting transparency, addressing unfairness, and prohibiting discrimination in the meat and poultry industry that will benefit all for years to come, not just the select few.

Over the course of this Administration, we've taken significant steps to level the playing field for producers, and with today’s action, we are meeting our obligations under the Packers & Stockyards Act.

Recently @USDA announced an additional $6 billion in New ERA and PACE programs. These investments will reduce pollution, create jobs, and benefit more than one in five rural Americans.

I applaud @POTUS for establishing the Sáttítla Highlands National Monument in Northern CA as a new national monument. This designation protects Tribal ancestral homes and celebrates the region’s unique landscape.

Before the holidays, the @WhiteHouse highlighted all the ways in which this admin, including @USDA, @CommerceGov @USDOT, @EPA, @ENERGY, @HHSGov, @USDOL, is investing in rural communities.

He understood that a life of service is and was a life well lived. From the Camp David Accords to the Habitat for Humanity homes he built, his legacy will live on and will encourage all of us to continue following his example.

President Carter, as a farmer, never lost his connection to the land or the values he learned from those who farmed. He dedicated his life to making our country and the world a better place.
