/ Write to one person. Don’t say “hey guys” or "hey everyone". Avoid anything that implies you’re speaking to an audience. Quick tip: Print out a picture of your customer avatar and tape it to your computer. Makes it a lot easier to write to one person.

/ Write like you talk. It should read like a normal conversation. Imagine you're at the bar having a beer with a friend. That's how it should sound. I often talk out loud as I'm writing my email.

/ ONE big idea. Pick ONE big idea and focus only on that. Don't jump around from thing to thing or you'll confuse your reader. Have ONE main point you're trying to make.

/ Read it out loud. Better yet Give it to your friends, partner, or kids to read out loud. You’ll spot the rough patches you need to fix. This will save you dozens of "oopsie" moments.

/ Say more with less. Trim the fat. Don't worry about sounding smart or cute Get your point across with as few words as possible. After I write my first draft I delete 10-15% of it. 200-500 words is the range I try to stay in.

/ Use power words. Power words evoke emotion and raise curiosity. Almost feels like a punch in the gut. Do a quick Google search for "power words" and you'll find lists of them to use.

/ Give the appetizer not the main course. Don't get them stuffed from your email. Give them a taste and get them hungry for the main course. Tell them WHAT to do not HOW to do it. The how is in your product or service. Tease what's waiting for them inside.

/ Elementary approved. I run my emails through a free web tool called Hemingway. All of them are at a 3rd-5th grade level... and that's where you should be. It doesn't mean your audience is dumb. It means your email is easy to read.

/ Make regular invitations. You don't have to be an obnoxious car salesman to sell your stuff. Think of it as making an invitation or recommendation to a friend. "There's this CBD cream that helped with my lower back pain. Here's the link if you wanna check it out..."

/ Have one clear CTA. Make it clear exactly what they should do next. Doesn't always have to be to buy But it should be to take an action. • read this article • watch this video • check out this product • reply back to this email • register for this free webinar

/ Grab them with your first line. If your first 1-2 sentences suck They won't read the rest. Start in the middle of a story, ask a question, make a shocking statement. Make sure your lead HOOKS them and gives them a compelling reason to keep reading.

/ Show your personality. People connect with other people. They don't need another faceless corporate brand filling their inbox w/shiddy emails. Don't be afraid to share your opinions, rants, and stories. They buy YOU before your product. Show em who you are.

/ Keep an inspo file. You never know when a great email idea will hit you. Open up the notes app on your phone and create a file called "INSPO". Whenever you get an idea, have a story, something interesting happens in your life... note it down. Never ending email ideas.

/ Done is better than perfect. Money loves speed, so get it done. The beautiful thing about email is it's conversational. It doesn't need to be perfect or polished. It's just you having a conversation with your people.

/ Daily beats weekly. If your goal is more sales and a stronger relationship with your list Then emailing daily beats weekly. Disagree w/me? Fight me lol. No they won't read every single email. But your true fans will pay attention. That's what you should care about.
