I wanted to be a linebacker after watching Dick Butkus on NFL Films when I was 6 yrs old. He was why I wore 51 as I’m sure a lot of other LBs did. He played with inspiring tenacity and toughness! His legacy will live on.
We at NFL Alumni are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Pro Football Hall of Famer, legendary Dick Butkus (Bears; 1965-73). We offer our condolences to Dick’s friends and family. RIP.
