No flags, but this gives a better sense of European control a generation earlier. Plenty of Native peoples and polities in those lightly-shaded areas. Many confederacies competed for the Southeast; the Lakota would found their own empire after conquering the Black Hills in 1776.

As a corollary: (2) Liquidation of Virginia's deeply, deeply, weird court system and expansion of the D.C. Superior Court.

So far apparently at least two people have written me in for Virginia attorney general, so I should probably announce my platform. (1) Abolishment of Virginia and the return of D.C.'s unredeemed territories to the state of Greater Columbia.

For context, the head of the Assyrian Church of the East grew up in Chicago. He knew exactly what he did, Pope Leo knows that the Patriarch knows what he did. 10/10 yet another total American cultural victory.

The head of the Assyrian Church of the East “accidentally” gave Pope Leo XIV a Cubs jersey, and he doesn’t look happy about it.

Unironically a significant reason for why the Nordics are the way they are is that everyone who didn't fit in lives in Minnesota or South Dakota now.

To understand the European mindset, you must consider that 20 generations ago an entire new world opened up for the taking, and everyone still in Europe is descended from 20 generations of people who shrugged and said "Nah, not for me."

It's more likely than not that we'll still be using the M109 platform in the 2060s because no one has ever come up with a vehicle that actually merits a whole new chassis for the value add it brings to the table.

Not mentioned here, but also within the requirements are that the vehicle must contain at least 2% unicorn horn in its armor composition and make the ex-wife of the officer leading the program love him again.

🇺🇸 The US Army has issued a set of formal requirement for its "latest" attempt at procuring a new self-propelled gun. These include: - Domestic Production - A level of armour equal or greater to the M109A7 - The ability to fire all current US 155mm ammunition - Rapid emplacement

German Ostheer 1942 KIA + MIA through August: 147,971 KIA - 36,041 MIA (184,012 total) Russian 2025 KIA + MIA through August: 86,746 KIA + 33,966 MIA (120,712 total).

More generally, to place things in perspective, the HUR KIA-MIA leaks through August 2025, which I do firmly believe at this point to be credible (or even slightly understated in the case of 8th CAA) are about 2/3rds of German MIA+KIA in the East in 1942 through August of 1942.

Not yet at the point where I can fully confirm it to my satisfaction, but I do think it's more likely than not that the Russians took more KIA in the urban fighting around Pokrovsk than the Germans did in the urban fighting around and in Stalingrad in the period before Uranus.

As much as I love urban life, apartment dwellers are far more isolated from their neighbors than homeowners. Though you do need to drive 45 mins for groceries on the Navajo Nation.

I am a little baffled how people get the idea that if you have a detached house you never meet your neighbors, or that there's anywhere in the lower 48 where it takes half an hour to get to a grocery store.

The best thing about beavers is that every human culture that encountered them was sure that they were the most brilliant little engineers of the animal kingdom and it turns out they're just *really* well programmed dam building biorobots.

Amazing story: the Czech government spent six years planning a series of dams. A family of beavers constructed the dams for free, in 1-2 says, in the same locations that human picked, accomplishing the goals set by the Czech government and saving humans $1.2 million

In the Trump era, the basis of rightism is, increasingly, that the good things about Western civilization—well-funded public goods, free markets, trade, rule of law, civil rights, etc.—are gay fem-coded bullshit and need to be replaced with Third World-style patronage networks
