5/ We are not misleading. We don’t use humor. We are not making far fetched claims. We are simply showing patients, in empowered poses, using treatment for their chronic disease. If people are uncomfortable with them, what does that say about how we view obesity?.

3/ Unlikely. Because everyone agrees that diabetes is a condition deserving of treatment and high-quality care. The questions being raised about our ads are a byproduct of the stigma that millions of people living with obesity have felt their entire lives.

2/ This is the conversation we want and need to have. Our ads show patients, who are eligible for treatment based on their body weight, using a treatment for a neuro-hormonal disease. Imagine our ad campaign said ā€œA Weekly Shot for Diabetesā€ -- would that be considered ā€˜too.

1/ Our ads were recently slammed for being ā€˜too evocative’. I think our ads, and the coverage, are starting the exact conversation that we at Ro think is vital to have for patients. For decades, people have viewed obesity differently than other chronic diseases and the reaction.

Obesity isn’t a failing of self-control. Our new Body Program campaign spotlights obesity as a chronic condition that is worthy of high-quality care + effective treatment – and tells people that they can feel empowered to seek just that if they want to.
