There's no requirement on who you need to share your experience with. The only thing that matters is that you're comfortable with your decision.

You are in control when it comes to whether you choose to share your trauma with others. Your trauma is valid whether you choose to tell everyone or no one at all. Whether you choose to file a police report and face your abuser in court or never want to see them again.

Not reporting does not make a survivor’s experience any less valid. We empower survivors to make the choice that is best for THEM.

Truly saddened to hear this & sending all of our love to Lady Gaga as she continues to process her experience πŸ’• In seeing some of the responses to this, we want to make one thing abundantly clear. Under NO circumstances are survivors of violence obligated to report. THREAD.

Just a friendly reminder that abusers do not abuse everyone they come in contact with, so placing doubt on victims based on your experience with that person is irresponsible and unkind.

The most important thing to keep in mind when looking for signs of child sexual abuse is to keep an eye on sudden changes in behavior. If a child tells you that someone makes them uncomfortable, even if they can’t tell you anything specific, listen.
