List of players off top of head who tested FA in last 20 years that were too good/flawless to trade and had to try and resign : . Trout, Ohtani, Betts, Judge. Pitchers are too injury prone. Other hitters that come to mind (Harper, Soto) are in another tier IMO.
Sale and Devers can be rationalized. Bogaerts too. Trading Mookie Betts for minor prospects and a bad contract vs doing everything possible to sign him (or die trying) has and will always be indefensible.

I still can't believe the Red Sox turned Mookie Betts, Chris Sale, and Rafael Devers into. Connor Wong, Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs, Vaughn Grissom, Kyle Harrison, Jordan Hicks, James Tibbs, and Jose Bello.

Interesting to see the varying opinions on dealing with teams with bad ratios. In weekly non-Holds leagues, I am definitely against using relievers without SVs except as last resort.

Jeimer Candelarios might not be swinging the lumber he’s at least straining the lumbar.
The #Reds today recalled from Triple-A Louisville IF Tyler Callihan, added RHP Chase Petty to the Taxi Squad, and placed on the 10-day injured list IF Jeimer Candelario (lumbar spine strain, retro to 4/28). Petty is scheduled to start game 2 of the doubleheader.
