Ukraine had instant support from the vast majority of the world. Ukraine had support from the biggest powers of the world. Financial and physical support and an outpouring of true empathy. As it absolutely should. But Palestinians deserve the same, they are not getting it.

Okay to be a bit controversial… I’ve spoken to so many other Bosniaks who also feel extremely triggered at the scenes & horrors coming out of Gaza & many, myself included, have said “actually this feels way worse than it did when it was the start of the war in Ukraine”.

And I’ve been wondering why it feels so much worse, you know? Why it feels so similarly triggering? And initially I was like oh maybe it’s cause Palestinians are also mainly Muslims and we have that in common. But it’s not that that, actually. It’s because Ukraine had support.

& I think it’s this feeling that so many fellow Bosniaks are having is not because the issue in Palestine and Bosnia is 100% the same situation. It is absolutely not, b/c Bosnia wasn’t occupied for 75 years before the genocide in the 90s. But I do know many felt alone.

Bosnians weren’t allowed to defend themselves due to the arms embargo which wasn’t even lifted until 2006. We had no army. Ukraine has an army. Palestinians do not have an army. They are not allowed to defend themselves.

& yeah there’s differences and similarities in all conflicts and in all genocides… But it’s hit me so much harder this time. I’ve mourned Palestinians before. Friends and strangers alike. It feels so much worse this time.

I’m so angry that this keeps happening. And this isn’t me saying I didn’t mourn for Ukraine, I did. But they had the kind of support that Bosniaks could have only dreamt off having and Palestinians probably can’t even imagine. & its fucking bullshit.

@Rrrrnessa Just the fact alone that people think Ukraine had "instant support" shows how much we've been ignored by the world since russia first invaded in 2014.

@papavictorunner Well I’m talking about 2022 and pretending the whole of Europe, world didn’t showcase solidarity & support is ahistorical. There was support in 2014 too but obviously not to such an extent as in the 2022 invasion

@Rrrrnessa avoid using other victims to emphasize your argument. Choose a more considerate approach. There’s a good chance you’re not well-informed. If you are informed - you’re being deliberately insensitive and downplaying tragedies. It’s not a hunger games.

@anastasiiayef Its not downplaying tragedy to say you got a bunch of support & outrage in 2022 when Russia attacked. Its a good thing to get support, everyone should be so lucky.

@Rrrrnessa Ukraine got told "yes we sympathize with you but we're not going to brother helping because you will lose" until they showed that they could regain their territory. Palestine has no realistic win condition as long as it wants to destroy all of Israel.

@Rrrrnessa They also don't fight like Ukraine. They also allowed Hamas to use their land for terrorist atacks. They also running from their land and don't return back. They also protest in free countries and make trouble there. They also don't go home to fight with hamas. Do you want more?

@Rrrrnessa Ukrainians didn't do this, which is what led to the most recent hostilities.

@Rrrrnessa Ukraine had instant support? Really? In February of 2014? I think we have a different definition of “support” in our dictionaries. The West imposed the arm embargo on Ukraine.

@Rrrrnessa Bro, we got blankets and mre for 8 years of war. When Crimea and eastern regions were occupied - entire world provided "strong concerns" and continue to pour 100s of billions $ into russia instead of helping us.
