@RogueScholarMDC I know in @MCDM The Chain they use a lot of them. Good live play stuff if you like that sort of thing. Good game/story balance in Colville's DM style. Its about the mix I like and have always run. But yeah always seem to ne a few ioun stones floating around the group.

@Cerulean_Rex @mcdm I'll check it out. I don't watch a ton of live plays but I did enjoy Coville's videos early in his youtube channel and I did back the Strongholds book.

@RogueScholarMDC Most of us hate that they fly. Makes them silly and unwanted.

@TiaTruths I thought it was a neat trick. Sort of mysterious to the average person. Plus if you ever entered an anti magic zone you'd immediately know when they fell.

@RogueScholarMDC What’s that thing there. Orbiting your head? Doesn’t that get in the way when you sleep?

@DMKnightBear In game world it was just assumed you weren't wearing it to bed like you don't wear most gear and just don it when you wake up.

@DM_Zeppelin When I was a player (Which was basically in 2E only) I LOVED them and our whole party had tons. It was like free magic slots.

@RogueScholarMDC If I am honest I think I have one out as loot one time. It was mostly underwhelming.

@RogueScholarMDC How easy are they to steal while orbiting? Mage Hand being a cantrip in 5e, now.

@RogueScholarMDC @DnD_Lich They're used heavily in Pathfinder 1&2, they're not as developed as an item in 5e

@RogueScholarMDC They're a really cool addition to any character, everyone should at least KNOW about Ioun Stones

@RogueScholarMDC Well, say what you will about the flexibility of 5e, but they're pretty strict about that first rule of Ioun Stones club.

@RogueScholarMDC It's easy to forget about the magical equivalent of a lucky charm. Clip it on your purse, get the magic benefit, and forget it's there until someone at the bar drunkenly asks about your key-chain 😉
