ECMO can save lives, but within our national registry @EXCELoutcomes we found 1/3 patients were alive without moderate-to-severe disability at 6 months. Disability was common across all areas of functioning.

Our findings have implications for the acute and long-term management of these patients, including allocation of resources, prognostic indicators of long-term outcomes, and selection of patients for ECMO on the basis of 6-month prognosis. Longer term studies are needed @ELSOOrg

I *love* this simple yet highly effective guide to what would be an incredibly stressful situation for someone who doesn't intubate kids every day. I love it both because its visually appealing and easy to follow and because it mandates the use of Bluey as a clinical tool.

Croup is one of the diseases we own. This is the quintessential paediatric ED reg condition. But have you thought about what you are going to do if the Dex doesnโ€™t work? ED Reg Hector Thomson is back with more lessons from his #PEM rotation. https://t.co/v4kWf0NfiB #FOAMed
