Their approach was put to the test in RoboCup 2024, where it delivered very promising results under real-world conditions. This is what sets RoboCup papers apart: They go beyond simulations and lab demos - they are tested in the wild and under highly dynamic conditions!.

This paper takes on the challenge of robot decision-making in partially observable, real-time, dynamic, and multi-agent environments - like those in RoboCup soccer. The authors introduce a novel architecture that integrates reinforcement learning into a classical robotics stack.

Alongside the dataset, the team presents a Temporal Convolutional Network (TCN) trained on the data, which outperforms previous methods in real-world fall prediction tasks!.

This work introduces a dataset collected primarily at RoboCup, totaling 37.9 hours of sensor data, including 18.3 hours of walking and 2,519 recorded falls. Fall prediction is a key capability for safe humanoid locomotion, enabling countermeasures like lunging or stopping.
