Yes you can for that exact reason. If no one else plays it at a competitive level is anyone in the world going to beat the Bucs? No they aren’t so the winner of the NFL are the world champions

The champions of the AFL in Australia each year never call themselves the world champions despite the sport being played around the world. Why? Because we don’t feel the need for self-indulgent over gratification.

The champion in the best league in the football world is by default the world champion since there’s no one else in the world who can beat them. I do not understand why the only time people outside of the us care about football is when they’re mad about them saying world champion

I’m talking about football. Japan plays baseball at a fairly close level to the MLB so they shouldn’t call them selves world champions but the super bowl winner absolutely should

Incase you don't know. There's a sport called Rugby. It shares a lot of similarities to American football. Most countries around the world prefer rugby... that's why there is a Rugby World Cup every 4 years. Nobody cares about your NFL
