Please take a look at safety protocols for the 2023 charger so that if the vehicle is mistakenly started while the driver walks away, it won’t remain idling for any length of time without the FOB being detected.

Not only were all of our personal items that were left in the vehicle damaged in some way, I had to immediately drive to the closest gas station and replace the 3/4 tank worth of gas that the car used while parked in the lot, idling for over 9 hours.

But what I don’t understand is how a vehicle doesn’t have some type of safety function to turn the vehicle off if it’s been running on remote start for an extended period of time and the key fob isn’t detected.

The remote start button is located directly below the lock button on the remote. I can see how someone can mistakenly hit the remote start button, especially someone like me, who hits the lock button numerous times because I’m OCD with asking sure that the vehicle is locked.

I had 3/4 of a tank of gas when I parked, I was now running on fumes. I’m assuming that as I was walking away from the car in the morning, clicking the lock button (I’m OCD like that) I inadvertently hit the remote start button a couple of times as well.

When we got inside of the car, I immediately noticed the amount of heat from within the car. EVERYTHING was incredibly hot. Even the coffee that my wife purchased at 7:00am was at a temperature as if she had just poured the cup. I then noticed the low gas message.

We went to the tournament and had a terrific time. Upon returning to the parking lot at 5:00ish, I heard my wife say to me “awwww that was so nice of you to start the car and get it warmed up”. I immediately thought “hmmm I didn’t even know it had a remote start function”.
