Here's @bpreneel1's take on the @Europarl_EN vote, one of the cybersecurity experts behind an open letter warning against Art. 45. The Commission statement "mitigates the risk of undermining the security of web ecosystem" but the "devil will be in the detail" aka implementation.

Once you start thinking about the internet as a global space, then you will create cybersecurity policies that set the floor and not the ceiling. Food for thought from @nappy_techie following last week's #eIDAS vote!

We would recommend reading this blog post by @CEPIS_Europe. We hope that the delayed vote in @EP_Industry buys some time for a more comprehensive solution than what was in the trilogue agreement. #QWACs #SecurityRiskAhead #Encryption.

Today at 4pm CET, eIDAS negotiators are likely to agree to a deal on Art. 45 that is almost final. We saw a massive push last week to #FixArticle45 with over 500 academics and cybersecurity experts signing an open letter calling on the EU to reconsider.
