I'd argue the problem was waiting over 30 years to see a centered character that had no substance, virtually no dialog, and that was largely popular because his suit looked cool even though he ate shit and died embarrassingly in Return of the Jedi.
For those of y'all still celebrating Kathleen Kennedy leaving, think on this: Real Star Wars fans waited over 30 years to get Boba Fett back in live action.... and this is what Dave Filoni gave us. (I know Robert Rodriguez was the director, but Filoni oversaw production)
