A move of CST to recruit to interview based purely on MSRA and T&O St1 getting the applicants to sit it on an analysis only basis is such a shame: hard work of people dedicated to surgical specialities overridden by exams not fit for surgical specialties for interview slots😕

A true difference in tech available between my PhD and MD is massive. Even just the ability to have a journal/paper through headphones is saving so so much time and so much less eye strain to get through at a faster pace. Also meaning I can make notes without a laptop 👊🏽 #dreamy

Many years in the making! Started my post at @JubileeHospital for an ortho research fellow and MD under @PhilWalmsley4 @ChrisGeeOrtho @jonclarkeortho and @andrewhallortho : looking at ACL pathways in NHS Scotland. We all know how personal that is to me 🙏🏽 🤩 #aclinjury #aclrehab

FY2 finished ✔️. Thankful to get my 2h dead time in the car driving back, thankful to be mentally stimulated in my next job, thankful for no more 7 day stretches, thankful to finally be working towards becoming an ortho surgeon 🔨

Why do many athletes stop playing after ACL reconstruction? ▪️ Only 60% returned to pivoting sports ▪️ Women returned less often than men ▪️ Meniscal repair: no difference ▪️ Reasons for not returning: lack of time, loss of interest, fear of reinjury https://t.co/8dv0uv3W7m

2/2. Luckily I have formed a fantastic relationship with the @JubileeHospital ortho squad who have supported my career development for which I can further work towards over the next 2 years as a research fellow. No thanks to the FY jobs.

Still holds true, no local teaching in 4 of 6 rotations. No opportunities to go to theatre or clinic in 5 of 6. No practical clinical skills teaching in 6 of 6. Service provision in horrific rotas present throughout. 2 t&o jobs and not once was I supported to career develop.1/2

BOA response to The Times (1st May, 2025) article suggesting orthopaedic surgery is primarily suited to men due to the physical nature of the work: “outdated and derogatory.” BOA President Mark Bowditch: “Skill, judgement and teamwork—not gender—define a good surgeon.” Read it
