Work ethic isn’t an assumed trait. It’s learned. Engrain that shit in their bones.

America was founded on critical thinking, bold action, grit, toughness, & resilience. And we’re teaching kids it’s best to sit inside and be comfortable while following the same bubble wrapped, “predictable” path as every other kid who feels owed a prize just for showing up.

With each passing year I grow a deeper appreciation for the 4th of July because it serves as a great reminder. It’s not about fireworks or BBQ’s, it’s remembering we won freedom by not taking any shit & whipping peoples asses. Physical Culture mattered then & today. 🔨🇺🇸.

The best gift you can give them is not a gaming console. It’s not a shopping spree. It’s not even a “new car” that after 14 days is just a car. The greatest gift you can give them is the gift of physical literacy. The compounding value is unlike anything else out there.

You know what happens to the plastic trophies nobody cared about to begin with?. They end up in a landfill. Your body, far more valuable, gets a fancy wooden box. And we’re going to teach them to prioritize the former over the latter in their most impressionable years? . Wow.

Sports (can be) great. But the average length of a competitive sports career is 6 years. That number is decreasing, too. Being “too busy” to physically & nutritionally educate them during their most pivotal years is exactly what’s failing them when the jersey comes off.

🇺🇸 ranks 49th among countries in life expectancy. We’re on pace to fall to 66th place by 2050. And we’re teaching our kids to stress over political travel ball teams. While kids in lesser developed countries are learning behaviors that will contribute to greater health-spans.

Sports (can be) great. But the average length of a competitive sports career is 6 years. That number is decreasing, too. Life expectancy is ~80 years. Prioritizing general physical literacy in these pivotal years is critical to their long term health, wellbeing, & QOL.

Broad Axe Day. While strength is one of the qualities I’m least concerned about at this stage, what I am after is the work ethic & learning how to do things the right way. I’m after the character development far more than I am the load. Hammers Only.

You’re worried about his velo & 40 time. Yet your kid is “too busy” to train the right way & doesn’t know the difference between protein & carbohydrates. And you think buying lessons from an “elite” organization (not elite enough to coach them up in practice) is the answer. .

You don’t get to say, “sports are about the life lessons!”. And then proceed to bake all of the valuable life lessons out of sport. And then, act surprised when the real world whips their ass because they’ve run out of perceived greener grass to run to. Adults are ruining it.

The fact that we are raising a generation of kids to believe they should be competing in sport more than they should be physically preparing for them is a microcosm of our world. It’s ignorance. “Why are gen Z kids like tha. ”. Do you seriously wonder why?. Because of adults.

Training in the heat, I’m talking HEAT, does something to and for you that no other training environment can. It’s hard and you have to be smart, but to be soaked in sweat BEFORE you start the work & still choose to lean into the work anyway. It sharpens your edge. IYKYK.

14 hour day in a furnace that started well before the rooster crowed. I sweated plum through 4 outfits. Rung out 3 pairs of socks. And our day is finishing with the cicadas after dark. And I wouldn’t want it any other way with anybody else. These are the days. 🔨❤️

We had a bunch of girls sharing squat racks yesterday. 100 degrees. 100% humidity. Plates clanking & energy electric. But what was I most proud of?. The intensity in which they were encouraging each other. That’s my female strength agenda. You can keep your fru fru stuff.

I think self-awareness is one of the most overlooked and lacked traits in all of coaching. It’s easy to talk about the “big picture”, but are you highly aware, calculated, & intentional in the micro to ensure your actions today are going to serve them well tomorrow and beyond?.
