It's always nice to find Grayling on our Surrey heaths. An early start yesterday before it got too hot paid dividends with a number of sightings of this species. @BC_Surrey @savebutterflies @surreybic

It's been a summer of Purple this year on Bookham Common in Surrey. The Purple Emperors have shown well in recent weeks with males regularly coming down to the gound. @southeastNT @savebutterflies @BC_Surrey @surreybic

Labour are backtracking on a plan to help save birds: by blocking a new rule that would make developers put a £35 nest brick in every new home. They think it'll help win them votes - we need to show it would do the opposite. Sign the petition

I seem to have been a bit late to the Green Hairstreak party this year as they've been on the wing for a while now. However, I finally caught up some on the North Downs this morning. @BC_Surrey @savebutterflies

I have recently returned from Khoa Lak in Thailand so here's a selection of some of the 35 lifers that I was fortunate to see. Common Iora, Coppersmith Barbet, Oriental Pied Hornbill and Liniated Barbet. @

Finally after around a dozen attempts I caught up with the Prews Farm Little Bunting this morning. After a reasonable wait it showed on and off for 20mins or so. @SurreyBirdNews

A couple of shots from this morning of the very obliging Lapland Bunting at Staines Reservoir. A super little bird for sure. It was nice to see a few familiar faces there as well.
