People need to remember, the University of Michigan gets millions upon millions of dollars of revenue from football. It is important to the university. I don’t think they will choose to skimp on NIL or anything else and risk the viability of that revenue stream.

@RajLakra Uhhhhhhh……do you remember the “buy a coke and get 2 tickets to football game” promotion!?!? They refuse to let go of ideals and politics that no longer factor into modern college sports!!!

@geoff6673 That was a different AD at a time when they weren’t succeeding. You can’t compare then from now.

@RajLakra That is fine if that is their stance but just know they can’t compete with the other schools that prioritize it consistently

@RajLakra Please understand that the athletic budget is completely separate from the rest of the university. Athletics only pays the academic side to cover athletes tuition per their scholarships, so the millions raised for athletics is put into athletics not the academic side.

@RajLakra Being good athletics can attract students but is not the primary attraction for non-athletes.

@RajLakra Football money is pennies compared to the federal grants it receives for research. You don’t get the big picture. The powers at be could care less about football

@RajLakra Those fans are lap dogs that will eat up anything UM gives them. A large portion of their base just wants to wear UM knit derby hats with the beanie on top and brag about the 1900’s and their academic standards that are the same for incoming freshmen as any program in the NCAA
