Irish Rail's solution to social distancing, run fewer shorter trains & remove seat reservations. As if logic was ever part of Irish Rail's plans. We still advise in line with government advice to make essential journeys only But if the advice is to holiday at home. Confused?

@RailUsersIe if the governments telling Irish people 2 holiday at home and Irish rail is telling people only 2 use it service for essential purposes only doe that sound a.bit confusing.πŸ€”

@mdtoomey DART is running normal timetable thankfully with full fleet deployed The problem is at off peak times with large groups of youths travelling. The ten minute timetable helps here be spreading the load

@RailUsersIe I understood that once masks became compulsory that IR would move to 1 metre distancing. Thereby allowing more seats . Union rules I guess

@RailUsersIe Meanwhile in The Netherlands: "The railway also expects demand to be harmed by passengers changing to other modes of transport, in particular e-bikes". The greatest challenge to rail travel in The Netherlands is the 🚲. πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ‡³πŸ‡±
