"Race realists"make my blood boil, especially as someone from an Irish background - when I was growing up, jokes about Irish people being stupid were still common.
19th century scientific racists thought that Irish people were naturally less intelligent than British people.

I am sure that if Ireland weren't a rich, successful country now, race realists would still be talking about Irish people being intellectually inferior.

I'm pretty sure well-known racist Richard Lynn (of "National IQ" fame) was claiming that the Irish were significantly less intelligent than the British due in part to genetics, well into the 1980s.
