Mine was 20 years ago, and “woke” wasn’t something I’d hear for another decade+, but I still remember this vividly. Big inflection point for me.

@Cypher437 @ConceptualJames I never thought of it that way, but yeah, that’s a pretty big flaw in her thesis. If my actions don’t matter, if I’m evil just by dint of my skin color, then why would I bother acting morally? The fact that we did bother ought to have proven her wrong.

@RMillennielle I'm one of the lucky ones. I wasn't prescribed that "lesson" until I attended tech school. When I told my professor that I grew up in a predominately black neighborhood, got along with all my neighbors, and even attended prom with one of them, she still tried to argue with me.😆
