The Agriculture and AgriFood Canada research station in P.E.I. (Canada) have resurrected more than 80 heritage grains from a seed bank in the UK, hoping to find some that are not only suited for the eastern Canadian climate but are good brewing barleys as well. #RMIAnalytics

Hops are vulnerable to disease & pests in the UK’s temperate climate, leaving growers heavily reliant upon agro-chemicals. To find a solution, the Innovative Farmers programme, is bringing hop growers together with Organic Research Centre to co-design practical on-farm research.

A farm in Wales, Dark Farms, is growing hops indoors, using a hydroponic growing method usually found in crops such as salad leaves and herbs. Dark Farm is believed to be the first indoor hop yard in the whole of the UK.
