As a leader, tackle root issues, not just symptoms. Losing a client or missed deadlines often signal deeper issues like communication gaps or skill mismatches. Adopt a detective’s mindset: ask questions, seek facts without blame, and create a team focus on solving core problems.

Success comes from preparation, especially for questions like 'What do you do?' I’ve got a clever, a professional, and a casual answer ready. It helps make a great first impression! What’s yours?

Look in the mirror. If you met yourself, would you think, "This is someone I want to follow; someone I can respect?" Consider how you enter a room, what you say in meetings, how you greet people. Are you portraying the leader you aspire to be? Every action shapes your image.

Verne Harnish said, “If your team isn’t making fun of you for talking about the vision, you’re not saying it enough.” As a leader, keep repeating the goals and direction until they tease you. Then repeat again.

I’m wired to spot what’s wrong and focus too much on it. But success is about doing more of what’s good, not just fixing the bad. Celebrate what’s working! In your last meeting, how much was spent on problems vs. opportunities? Focus on what’s right.

Projecting who we are and what we stand for is key, especially in leadership. People want to know you, and trust follows clarity. Not everyone will like it, but that's how you build a strong team, culture, and loyalty. The right people will align with who you are.

Snacks that drain your energy: sugary tea/coffee, soda, juice, chips, granola, sweetened yogurt, bars, cookies, dried fruit, & microwave popcorn. Best snack: Fresh fruit + unsalted nuts. Bonus tip: roast canned chickpeas w/ salt & pepper for 10 mins! Delicious!

Too many say they can't take breaks. That's an excuse. Block 3x30min slots in your day—AM, lunch, PM. Use them to recharge. If you don't, no one else will. Your responsibility. Do it now.

Some think courage is not having fear—wrong. Without fear, there's no courage. When you feel resistance, it's time to act. It may or may not go as planned, but risks are like that. In my experience, things go your way more often than not. Stop making excuses and make it happen.

High-performing people have advisors like businesses do. Surround yourself with people who can boost your career. If you find someone who might help, just ask them. It's that simple.

It's easy to get stuck where things are good. As we age and succeed, the thought of stress and anxiety is uncomfortable. But that's why you need to do it. Challenge yourself to keep your edge. Find something you don’t want to do and do it. You'll be glad you did.

Few get enough leadership training. 'Natural leader' is a myth; it's a learned skill. Leaders are often too hard on themselves, causing more issues. If this is you, take a break. Reflect on the good you do and the people you help. Remember these when you're down. You got this!

Good intentions can miss impact if we move too quickly. Slow down, make eye contact, and share specific appreciation. Authentic praise encourages more of that behaviour.

Keep energy and focus high to avoid fatigue. Consider diet, hydration, exercise, time of day, and outdoor activities. Experiment: reduce coffee, limit sweets, and drink 1-2 litres of water daily. Like a high-performance car, your body needs quality fuel.

How often do you take people for granted? A simple thanks can go miles. Think of one or two people who've helped your career. Call them, say thanks, and let them know how much you appreciate them. Great leaders know this builds strong bonds.

Shift from ego to your true self. Notice when ego sneaks in. It's not bad, just often unnecessary. Be gentle with yourself. You have all you need to feel safe within.

Know your purpose. Keep it in mind. When unmotivated, remind yourself of it. It doesn’t need to be complex, just meaningful. Embrace it to make things easier. If you don’t have a purpose, reflect and find it. It can be a game changer. Don’t take it lightly.

A simple, calming breath can make all the difference. Inhale a medium-large breath, hold for a second, and exhale slowly, imagining all your stress leaving. Feel good? Repeat twice. #mindfulhack
