Honestly, I am at a loss what to do right now. Even my social worker isn't getting a response from them (who referred me to them). I have previously had excellent service from this fire dept when renting, so this is extremely disappointing that they would breach the law. 3/

It places me at significant personal risk, especially as my husband is frequently away for work. If there were a fire overnight, I would not be aware. This is a clear and present risk. I have sent several emails to the fire service and yet, no response ๐ซ 2/

5 months since I was referred to @Tyne_Wear_FRS ...And I still haven't received a Deaf accessible smoke alarm, as they claim that if I need 'a signing person', my husband (who works full-time as a civil servant) must provide this ๐ซ Not only is this illegal, but: 1/

as we are in the festive season, iโd encourage anyone that knows someone with a hearing loss to make conscious efforts to keep them included in the festivities. if youโre not quite sure how to do that, ask them. whilst deaf people are constantly providing tips, itโs better to ask

I think @IsabelOakeshott does know @MotabilityOps cars arenโt free. Itโs a charity that allows disabled people to lease cars, mobility scooters, or powered wheelchairs by using some or all of the mobility part of their benefit. You have to have enough points to qualify.

Not to mention that the majority (but not all) of disabled claimants are claiming for more than one condition. This frequently includes both physical AND mental health, they are not as separate as you think! Stress causes physical symptoms, which impacts wellbeing and MH. 4/

(and before anyone asks, I say this as someone with academic, professional and personal experience: I have 2 neuropsych degrees, 30 years lived experience as a disabled person and over 4 years as a benefits adviser working an average of 4 cases a week) 3/

Moreover, PIP descriptor points look at 1. the impact NOT diagnosis, and 2. support needed Examples given include prompting (encouragement) and also showcase impact of 'overwhelming psychological distress' ..But you must have missed that in your diligent reading, huh? 2/

Then you CLEARLY don't understand the PIP criteria. The very definition you described is "long-term physical OR mental health...", yet all the examples of conditions you disbelieved were either mental health or affect the brain in some way e.g. neurodivergence No sense ๐คท๐ป 1/
I've been doing some more questioning of the DWP, with some staggering results. 4,048 individuals receive benefits through PIP directly for their obesity, and how it impacts them. PIP is for... "a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability difficulty doing

Absolutely have to call-out Isobel Oakeshott. To say benefit claimants are 'parasites', sit on the sofa, drive their 'free motability' is completely outrageous. At @scope we call out ableism. Call out discrimination. And to not let language like this go unchecked. Shame.

and yes, my great-uncle and aunt (88 and 89) always get into a tiff around this despite both being on the eastern coast of IOM, because she's from Maughold (more north) and he's from Douglas (more south) so have different ways of carving moots and versions of the song ๐

Did you know that I come from a Manx family, from at least 1500? That's right, I'm the 17th gen! You'll see no pumpkins, but moots (turnips) - #HopTuNaa is one of the oldest continuous Manx celebrations, before Halloween, full of carving, divination, dance and song!
