Many domestic groups and foreign states have an interest in stoking domestic divisions in the US. They will love the sight of hundreds of police in riot gear on campuses. Shouldn't the police role be to weed out the outside infiltrators, protect our students, and deescalate?

The NYPD and the mayor's office claim to know who the outside agitators are. Why aren't they telling the faculty and students, for their own safety? Why not arm our students with information first, before going in with riot gear? There are many good, well-intentioned kids there.

@ProfessorShaw Absolutely correct. I will also hold responsible the armchair pundits screaming "do something" at university administrators they've decided are insufficiently tough. The most important value should be public safety.

@ProfessorShaw That's what I'm saying. I keep reading about non-students being arrested. Who is paying these people to disrupt American higher education, and stoke anti-semitism in the US? I have my guesses.

@ProfessorShaw @MollyJongFast I think that ship sailed when they broke into a building and refused to let other students use it.

@ProfessorShaw @MollyJongFast I take the @MollyJongFast retweet here as tardy recognition that Joe, Tony, and Jake, fellow travelers with AIPAC, have effed this up beyond all recognition, and that we're transported back to 1968. "Oh, it's only two percent of young people who care about Gaza," says Molly.

@ProfessorShaw Depends on the numbers. 80% of those arrested on Arizona State University campus did not belong there. They were not students, faculty, or staff. The WTO rioters in Seattle? Most were not from Washington state.

@ProfessorShaw Bring suspects in for questioning and ask them who won the 2020 Presidential election. If they answer "President Trump" then hold them for 72 hours for additional interrogation.
