Fact Check: FALSE โ๏ธ
Pregnancy complications such as placental abruption, bleeding from placenta previa, preeclampsia or eclampsia, chorioamnionitis, and cardiac or renal conditions may be so severe that an abortion is the only measure to preserve a patientโs life.
@ProTruth4Life
And if any such condition is confirmed by doctors that it puts the motherโs life at risk, an abortion can be provided in all 50 states as a lifesaving measure for the mother.
@Ratio_Disputati
Incorrect. ๐ซ Some states require death be imminent. So, with pregnancy-induced hypertension, for example, doctors must needlessly allow the patientโs condition to worsen to the point of near cardiac arrest before being permitted to act.
@ProTruth4Life
It is much faster and safer for a mother and baby in distress to birth the baby by c-section or emergency c-section, than to perform an abortion, especially on a late term baby. Even if the baby doesnโt survive, it had a chance to live and the mother is safer faster.
@ProTruth4Life
Hysterotomy (C-section) is way more dangerous earlier in pregnancy than at term because lower uterine segment is not as well developed -60x mortality rate of D&E, high morbidity.
It's only used as a last resort.
@ProTruth4Life
There is a difference between natural & induced abortion and you know it.
Prolife is against induced abortion (forced or manipulated by pharmaceutical or external means with the intent to kill the child)
No one is advocating against natural abortion.
@ProTruth4Life
Maybe if yโall didnโt insist on abortion on demand for any reason the backlash wouldnโt have been so problematic.
Youโre disingenuous and everyone knows it.
@walkinghispath
I'm not "y'all." I'm an individual with my own thoughts, opinions, and positions.
As for "Problematic backlash":
Problematic backlash is problematic, and the onus is on those inactive problematic backlash into law.
@ProTruth4Life
Inducing labor or removing the child prematurely is NOT the same as an abortion.
Abortion is the intentional destruction and murder of an unborn child. That never needs to be done, ever.
If a baby has to be removed to save the mom, and he or she dies, that is NOT abortion.
@ProTruth4Life
Honest, Anna: did you even read the list of "accidents" of gestation that require and abortion....
What is your thinking to post such an implausible claim.
Yeah, I know many zealots -hide from the reality of abortion by claiming there is never, ever a need for one; but...sigh
@ProTruth4Life
I'm a recently retired Ob-Gyn doc, and the above statement is mostly false. Pregnancy complications, such as placenta previa, abruption, chorioamnionitis, or pre-eclampsia are virtually always third trimester - or infrequently late second trimester - events. In such cases, itโฆ
