1/ It finally happened. What we’ve been waiting for years has just happened. POCUS has officially made it into the new AHA ACLS guidelines (even if as a weak recommendation). In the next posts, I’ll show you how bedside ultrasound can transform CPR, going far beyond simply

"AI isn't replacing radiologists" good article Expectation: rapid progress in image recognition AI will delete radiology jobs (e.g. as famously predicted by Geoff Hinton now almost a decade ago). Reality: radiology is doing great and is growing. There are a lot of imo naive

Radiology combines digital images, clear benchmarks, and repeatable tasks. But demand for human radiologists is ay an all-time high.
In 2016 Geoffrey Hinton said “we should stop training radiologists now" since AI would soon be better at their jobs. He was right: models have outperformed radiologists on benchmarks for ~a decade. Yet radiology jobs are at record highs, with an average salary of $520k. Why?

Really pleased to share this piece I wrote for @POCUSJournal about the expanding role of #POCUS 🩻 POCUS is no longer confined to single-system scans and binary questions ❌ We can embrace the value and nuance of multi-organ POCUS to help us answer complex questions 🧐 Have a

Pretty chuffed with this work. We show that having POCUS trained clinicians performing and reporting scans as part of acute care leads to a dramatic reduction in departmental radiology requests. We help not hinder! More reasons to embed this in daily practice where possible...
#hotoffthepress Ever wondered if POCUS leads to more work for radiology departments? The answer is no! Read the clear evidence that an internal medicine POCUS service dramatically reduces downstream radiology requests, by @NHSmallwood and colleagues 👇 https://t.co/YZEWRZk8Au

In #POCUS, talent knows no gender. Yet our field's diversity isn't reflected where it matters most: 70% of med students are women 75% of advanced practitioners are female 80% of sonographers are women But conf panels, publications & courses....Overwhelmingly male. Why
Thx for this @cardiacACCP. Love a geek paper. I know it’s based across the pond but I’m disappointed that women are not fairly represented here. My mentors were both female and I know so many great teachers, POCUS practitioners & sonographers. @jenacochrane1 @Colclough_Pocus
